Marco Polo Terraces breathe the flair of old Hanseatic architecture in Hamburg

An urban space with access to the water and a view of
the River Elbe – this is how Benedetta Tagliabue from EMBT Architects in Barcelona designed the Marco Polo Terraces and the Vasco-da-Gama Square at HafenCity on Hamburg’s harbour front. Her competition entry was “translated” by the Hamburg-based landscape architects WES&Partner to comply with regional standards and realized with clay bricks and pavers.
