Swissbau 2012 – meeting point for the construction and architecture scene in Switzerland

Swissbau, the leading fair for the construction and real-estate industry in Switzerland, came to an end after five very successful days. With 115 111 visitors (+6.5%) and top marks from the just under 1 300 exhibitors (+7%) Swissbau has once again underlined its leading position – in European comparison too. In addition to the exhibition proper, high-calibre discussion forums were held on the subject of “Sustainable building and renovation” this time round, in the context of the new Swissbau Focus competence platform. Hans Killer, President of bauenschweiz, emphasized: “With a total of more than 500 000 employees and sales in excess of 50 bill. SFR each year, the construction sector constitutes a key pillar of the Swiss economy as a whole.”

Focus on sustainability and energy efficiency

Leading minds from the sector discussed and debated the burning issues over a period of five days in high-calibre themed events, workshops and the Swissbau Focus Arena. The key subjects included energy, building labels, building in context/current spatial planning issues and education. The events, which were attended by around 5 000 people, were planned by the leading industry associations and organizations and staged in conjunction with Swissbau. Another 5 000 people followed the events parallel on the internet.

The next Swissbau is being held from 21 to 25 January 2014 and will take place in the new Messe Basel building for the first time.
