More than 100 years of machine engineering for the clay brick and tile industry

In the year 2008 the Italian company Bedeschi celebrated a proud anniversary: its centenary. The family-run company based in Padua, which is known in the clay brick and tile industry for its preparation and shaping machines, is also a prominent player, for example, in the cement industry and a major supplier of ship loading and unloading equipment. We spoke to Ing. Rino Bedeschi (43), who, representing the fourth generation of the family, manages the business together with his father and Bedeschi President, Guglielmo Bedeschi.

Zi: Since 1992 you have been managing a company that is more twice as old as you are and is one of the most widely respected suppliers in our industry. What are you particularly proud of?

R. B.: I am particularly proud of the fact that we are one of the few remaining family-run companies in our sector. ­Guglielmo, my great-grandfather started off as a worker at a brickworks, made his way up to being a skilled worker and then founded his own company. On 14 November 1908 he established his workshop in Padua for the design of machines and equipment for clay brick and roofing tile production....
