Adolf Gottfried Tonwerke GmbH/Gottfried Feldspat GmbH | A6, 503

Competent raw materials partner for clay, chamotte, soapstone and feldspar

Working in close cooperation with its customers, Gottfried develops dedicated raw materials solutions.

The range of raw and ground clays is selectively complemented with externally sourced raw materials and ranges from Al2O3 contents of 20 to 43 % and fired colours from creamy white through buff to red. The main buyers are manufacturers of heavy clay ceramics for construction and refractories.

With the extensively modernized and extended firing and preparation equipment for chamotte and soapstone, Gottfried is steadily widening its range. The hard materials actively improve the production and product properties of the ceramics. The chamottes are used primarily for refractories, sanitaryware products, fine fire clay and building ceramics, like tiles, flue and sewage pipes as well as stove tiles. Raw and calcined ground soapstone are used in steatite and cordierite bodies. Crumbly bodies and subcontracting are also offered.

In Thansüss near Amberg, Gottfried operates a pegmatite mine and a mineral grinding plant. Special grades of white-firing potash feldspar sand have proven effective in light-firing brick bodies and as grog in roofing tiles. In the mineral grinding plant, besides pegmatite, combinations of other feldspars or mineral products, like chamotte, quartz and wollastonite, can be ground (iron-free) on request.
