06.01.2010 News: Bau 2011 – Plan of the grounds - Architecture, materials and systems on 180,000 m² of space

Investors, planners, architects, the retail and wholesale trade – in short anyone who has anything to do with the design and construction of buildings, are sure to find just what they need at Bau 2011 – which takes place from 17 to 22 January 2011 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre. Around 1,900 exhibitors from 40 countries will be presenting architectural solutions, materials and systems on 180,000 square metres of space at this exhibition. The sections in the 17 halls are organised according to building materials, product types and themes. Here´s a run-down of what the individual sections cover:

> A section on stones/soils, covering 22,000 square metres of space in Halls A1 and A2. It covers stoneware, sand-lime bricks, concrete, pumice and fibre-cement building materials, plasters/renders, screeds and insulation materials.

> Roofing materials and roof windows will take up all of Hall A3. The brick and tile industry will be showcasing its entire repertoire – from wall blocks and roof tiles to complete building sections.

> The section on stone, cast stone and outdoor design solutions in Hall A4 is expanding to 5,000 square metres of space, the biggest it´s ever been.

> Chemical building products are concentrated in Hall A5 and in a part of Hall A4, on around 16,000 square metres of space. Leading manufacturers will be showing how their extensive ranges – from insulation materials to plasters, renders, paints, varnishes and adhesives – can be used on façades and in interiors.

> The section on tiles and ceramics is expanding once more. Hall A6 is the home of this section. Leading manufacturers from all around the world will be presenting their latest creations for interior and exterior use.

> Halls B1, C1 and B2 are dedicated to façades and solar-shading systems, and profiles made of aluminium and steel. The steel manufacturers and processors are thus moving from Hall B3 into Hall B2. Covering a total of 30,000 square metres of space, this section also includes machinery and equipment for working with aluminium and steel.

> Also new in B2: energy and building systems. Here the manufacturers will be showing how technological solutions can be integrated aesthetically into building design.

> The full range of automatic gate and door systems, previously housed in Hall B2, will in future be situated in Hall B3 and parts of Hall C3. This places it closer to the doors and windows section. In total this area of the exhibition is thus expanding to around 15,000 square metres of space.

> Hall B5 contains an extensive display of products from the wood and plastics industry. Here the focus is on structural timber, interior fittings and wood derivatives.

> The entire spectrum of floor coverings – from elastic (linoleum, PVC, rubber, cork) and textile to laminates and parquet – will be on show in Hall B6 and parts of Hall A6, on around 12,000 square metres of exhibition space.

> In Hall C2 the major international companies in the glass industry will be putting on their presentations in Hall C2, showcasing their latest developments and products in glass and glass architecture.

> Doors and windows made of wood, plastics, glass and aluminium, plus locks and fittings – these products will be on display in a continuous area covering a total of 21,000 square metres of space in Halls C4 and B4. Here, the trade visitors will find manufacturers and suppliers in close proximity to each other. One key theme is building security. On show will be various concepts and systems.

> Another section having a dedicated area is Bau IT, on around 6,000 square metres of space in Hall C3. This section, the biggest display of IT for construction in Europe, has now grown even bigger still. New since 2009: Bau IT will move into the halls on the north side, which have a direct connection to the North Entrance.
