93rd meeting of the DKG & symposium on high performance ceramics parallel to ceramitec 2018

ceramitec 2018 will be an all-encompassing meeting place for the industry. The trade show, which will be held from 10 to 13 April 2018, will coincide with the 93rd Annual Meeting of the German Ceramic Society (Deutsche Keramische Gesellschaft – DKG) & Symposium on High Performance Ceramics to be held on the exhibition grounds of Messe München. One of the core topics will be digitalization and Industry 4.0. The symposium will provide the opportunity to take a look at what the future has in store for these interwoven issues and to discuss the changes to be expected by the world of ceramics. For instance: How will the manufacturing of components change in the future? In what way are we going to follow the life cycle of materials, to optimize production processes and to minimize raw material consumption? How can we close loops in an optimized way and how can we reduce power consumption?
Another focus is placed on the current reshaping of the energy supply landscape and the discussion about how the ceramics industry can contribute and how the required components and systems will be manufactured.
International, top-class speakers will discuss these issues of the future in 14 thematic panels. Switzerland as partner country has maintained close links with the Germany Ceramic Society (DKG) over many years and will enrich the program by numerous lectures.
The symposium is addressed to all experts from the ceramics industry and the areas of teaching, research and development. Young scientists, students and doctoral students, in particular, are invited to present results from their qualifying papers and current projects. For this purpose, an attractive setting has been created with the Walter Hennecke Lecture Competition at the Exhibition Forum and with the awards for the best posters. This is a unique opportunity for young professionals of the ceramics sector to present themselves to a wide international trade audience. The call for papers will run until 31 December 2017.
The DKG combines its annual associative and professional highlight with ceramitec, the world’s leading trade show for ceramics. This platform offers the unique opportunity to get a wide international audience excited for the topics of the DKG. In addition, the DKG prepares an attractive and eventful program for all participants. Plans are to take advantage of a few event elements of the Exhibition Forum to offer thematic guided tours through the exhibition halls.
Marion Lintl, ceramitec Exhibition Manager and responsible on the part of Messe München for the DKG Meeting is glad to say, “The DKG Annual Meeting & Symposium has been held simultaneously with ceramitec again for quite some time now. We are expecting some 300 participants. We are very much looking forward to it because this means that the entire ceramics family will get together under the roof of Messe München. Thus, we can offer young talents an international platform for presenting the results of their research, discovering new trends and having in-depth discussions with experts.”
In addition, the Association of the German Ceramic Industry (Verband der Keramischen Industrie – VKI) will welcome its members to the General Meeting of Members at the Munich exhibition grounds.
