Under this slogan, Opavsky, the long-established smelting and glaze fabrication firm, showcased its portfolio of products at this year’s Ceramitec. The 95‑year-old company supplies ceramic frits, glazes, engobes and enamels for the ceramics industry. In this report, we should like to profile the company for our readers.

1 Then and now

At its base in Vallendar, Opavsky, a tradition-rich company is now making products for the ceramics industry in the fourth generation.

Josef Opavsky, Great-Grandfather of today’s Managing Director Inge Kropp, was a furnace builder. His work took him to many enamel works. He recognized the great ­demand for high-quality enamel and it was therefore logical that in 1914 he founded the
