The French brick and tile industry in 2009 in figures

The turnover of the French brick and tile industry decreased in 2009 and reached 888 mill. € (1043 mill. € in 2008) see »Table 1.

In 2009 the total production of 4.353 mill. t was lower than in the previous year (2008: 5.638 mill. t).

The production of clay roofing tiles decreased and reached 2.354 mill. t (2008: 3.006 mill. t). The production of structural bricks decreased also to 1.758 mill. t (2008: 2.331 mill. t).

This trend can also be observed in the total production of facing bricks (0.214 mill. t) compared to 2008 (0.276 mill. t).
