“Share” – a new insulating material, good for filling bricks, too

The new insulating material called “Share” can replace regular-market products and, in so doing, reap nu­merous benefits for building material producers and builder-owners. Share consists mainly of pyrosilicic acid and is therefore mineral-based, non-combustible and diffusion-enabling. With a thermal conductivity coefficient of l ≤ 0.02 W/mK, this insulant offers substantial energy-saving potential. Compared to many regular-market insulating materials, Share can often be employed in considerably thinner panels while still enabling easy compliance with the Passive House standard despite thinner walls. Of course, it also makes a good filler for clay masonry units.

1 Idea

Geologist Matthias Rimmele is well-known throughout ­Germany’s brick and tile industry as a qualified expert. ­Having gathered 14 years’ experience at his family’s own brick factory in Ehingen, most recently as managing director, Rimmele has been concentrating his efforts solely on product research for the new insulating material Share ever since ­Wienerberger acquired the company in 2009.
