Cleandy – a new concept for washing extrusion dies

Bongioanni Stampi has developed Cleandy, an innovative set of automatic machines for cleaning extrusion dies, and launched it onto the market.

Cleandy is available in versions 2.0 and 2.1 for extrusion dies with single and with large exits.

This new washing system includes a double collector with ten nozzles on each side (directed at the front and rear of the extrusion die) with a sectioned action, depending on the dimensions of the extrusion die to be washed. The two sets of nozzles are moved pneumatically in an alternated “up and down” motion.

Cleandy has an aluminium front opening fitted with a space-saving roll-up shutter. The bottom compartment, which houses the operational equipment, is made of steel painted with a protective coating and finished with epoxy paint. The inner compartment in which washing takes place is lined with stainless steel. There is a control panel with PLC for user interface.

Prior to loading of the extrusion die into the washing area, it is placed onto the removable M1 pallet (part of the machine equipment) and fixed with a mechanical system set on the M1 pallet, outside the machine. The M1 pallet can be safely loaded into the machine by means of a lift truck. After setting of the die and closing of the shutter, the washing function is activated from the PLC control panel and the washing process starts.

In standard mode the machine proceeds with:

› Safety check
› Pre-washing and soaking
› Washing of the front and rear of the die with alternating pressure (high pressure – low pressure)
› Automatic washing of the interior of the stainless steel tank
A key new feature is the washing system of the inner box. This system includes a fixed collector set inside the tank with low-pressure nozzles. This function is performed automatically at the beginning of the cycle and during washing, but can also be started manually.
