Highly efficient grinding for manufacturing added-value products

The requirements for added-value products have seen a steep increase over the last decade. This translates into extremely demanding markets that set the bar ever higher for manufacturers. At the same time the plant and machine engineering companies are called upon to supply better, more efficient and practicable solutions to achieve the desired results. In this context, the selection of a suitable grinding process is becoming more and more important.

1 Introduction

Market demands for added-value products may be classified in two groups:

Aesthetic features

Physical or technical properties

Within the first group, the visual appearance, colour homogeneity, surface finishing and texture have to be considered, as all these features strongly influence the first impression we get of a product. Complete absence of cracks or any other superficial defects have become a must for standard quality.

Variables such as strength, water absorption, frost resistance, dimensional accuracy, sound insulation, thermal conductivity, mortar bonding, etc. are...
