Low-energy tunnel kiln, skate kiln and other

technologies

Kiln cars are a major hindrance to the operation of a tunnel kiln. They are a key source of direct and indirect heat losses and often require extensive maintenance. The realization of these facts has been the starting point for the development of revolutionary kiln concepts by Direxa Engineering, LLC (in cooperation with Ceritherm and SEIPIA, France).

In the talk, the direct and indirect heat losses caused by the kiln cars will be quantified and the various technical solutions soon to be made available to the ceramics industry to effectively eliminate these losses will be described. The advantages derived from this will be discussed and an accurate update of the research and development work conducted to date on these prototypes will be given.
