Martin Pichler Ziegelwerk wins Sustainability Award

Winner of the Sustainability Award in the Industry category is Martin Pichler Ziegelwerk GmbH, a brick company, with its project “Roll-out mortar – roll out, water, done”. With the “Roll-out mortar“, the company shows that it is possible to explore new avenues for mortaring masonry. Particularly impressive for the jury was the company’s staying power in backing the research that lasted four years. “The new product reduces the need for resources and does completely without synthetic resins and plastics, therefore bringing a considerable environmental benefit. The now patented product score points in respect of work and resource efficiency as well as work safety”, summed up the jury.

Awards were presented to projects in the Industry, Social and Environment categories. The projects were assessed by an independent expert jury and had to go far beyond anything demanded by planning authorities and legislation. “With the Sustainability Award presented by the Forum Rohstoffe, we want to encourage the entire branch to continue making contributions to sustainable development and to give a platform to those companies specially committed to sustainably sourced raw materials”, says Robert Wasserbacher, General Secretary of the Forum for Mineral Raw Materials.
