Substantial increase in sales revenue for Unipor brick plants

2016 was a good year for the German Unipor Ziegel Group, an alliance of eight medium-sized masonry brick manufacturers, who produce at twelve locations in Germany, with a nationwide market share of around 25 %.

With € 105.4 mill., the adjusted sales of the Unipor brick plants were 9.4 % higher than in 2015 (€ 96.3 mill.). Over the same period, the sales volume increased slightly by 0.2 % to around 554 mill. NF units (2015: 553 mill. NF). In 2016, all member plants matched or improved on their previous year’s sales revenue.

The expectations for the current construction year are also positive: with steadily increasing figures for building permits as well as the political trend towards maximized energy standards, the Unipor Board is looking optimistically into the future in 2017, too.

High-performance clay bricks for high-performance walls

However, based on the total sales, the Unipor Group perceives a clear north-south divide: In the north of Germany, the double-leaf construction method and suitable product portfolio still dominate. In the southern regions with the traditionally monolithic construction method, sales of modern brick products remain consistently high.

Besides the filled Coriso and Silvacor clay blocks, the Unipor Group is developing other system products to meet the ever higher energy requirements. For the alliance of medium-sized clay brick manufacturers, the focus is increasingly on the building envelope as a whole. Innovative system solutions like the high-thermal-insulating ceiling beam encasing elements (DRE) or special tie beam insulating shell blocks (RDS) guarantee a building structure with minimized thermal bridges with convincing workmanship at the same time.
