George Washington’s Mansion at Mount Vernon is one of the most famous houses from the 18th century in America. It is an American landmark that is very popular among visitors and a lasting memory of the first President of the United States of America.
George Washington had it built and rebuilt over a long period of time according to his own plans. The highlight is his magnificent mansion residence. But he also supervised all aspects of landscaping in Mount Vernon and designed paths, roads and lawned areas, had views cut through the wood, and arranged for the planting of hundreds of native trees and shrubs.
For brick fans, the green house with its brick walls is the real eye-catcher. The building was used as winter shelter for tropical plants. Although the original burned down in 1835, the building constructed to replicate the original radiates with the grandeur of the era.
