The Würzburg Brick and Tile Training Course not taking place again until 2021

We, the course management and programme advisory board, should really be right in the middle of preparations for this year’s Würzburg Brick and Tile Training Course, compiling an interesting course programme and arranging an exciting excursion.

In spring this year, however, we were all stopped in our tracks by “Coronavirus” and confronted with a completely new situation. As a result, so much has changed in our everyday life and in our business life, too, and we all have to learn how to deal with it. At the same time, we want to keep up to date with the latest findings from research, development and the field and find out about innovations in all areas of production. For it is only with constant further development of our products can we keep them attractive and competitive. We should therefore have liked to present to you, the readers of “our journal” Zi Brick and Tile Industry International, all key and advanced innovations in talks by renowned experts from our industry at the Würzburg Brick and Tile Course. I am sure that the programme would again have been very interesting and diverse.

At present, however, it is not possible to foresee what general conditions would have to be implemented to comply with the Corona regulations. That applies especially to distancing rules and also the permitted number of attendees at events. Also unclear is whether and how the situation in restaurants and hotels will develop up to the end of the year. Our annual brick and tile training course does not live solely from the transfer of knowledge, but also from the sharing of experience, for which the attendees meet at the course during the breaks, at the evening events or also in various groups. At the current time, it is unfortunately not certain whether that could all happen as usual.

As Director of the Würzburg Brick and Tile Training Course, I not only see myself as responsible for the smooth running of the event, but also for your health. At the same time, all those responsible do not want to accept any drastic reduction of the number of attendees in order to comply with possible Corona regulations. For this reason, with a heavy heart, we have decided to cancel the event – a first in the so far 58-year history of the Würzburg Brick and Tile Training Course.

This decision wasn’t easy for any of us, but seems to us the only logical and right thing to do.

All the more we are, of course, looking forward to a resumption of the Würzburg Brick and Tile Training Course in 2021 and hope to be able to welcome you then as usual as an attendee in the best of health.

Until then, I convey my best wishes for health, confidence, progress and success! And good firing every time.

Yours

Joachim Deppisch
Director of the Würzburg Brick and Tile Training Course
