A new raw material, a new chapter: Stephan Schmidt Group acquires Saarfeldspatwerke H. Huppert GmbH & Co. KG

With effect from 22 April 2025, the Stephan Schmidt Group has acquired Saarfeldspatwerke H. Huppert GmbH & Co KG, a long-established raw materials company based in Saarland. This acquisition expands the Stephan Schmidt Group's product portfolio to include the raw material feldspar, further strengthening its position as a quality leader and innovation driver in the industry.

The site in Oberthal (Saarland) comprises a feldspar open-cast mine, a modern grinding and processing plant, its own laboratory and extensive storage capacities. The company employs around 20 people and mainly supplies the ceramics industry – with growing prospects beyond traditional applications. This is an important strategic step for the Stephan Schmidt Group to continuously broaden its base and open up new sales markets.
