Italian heavy clay ceramics industry hoping for a turnaround

This year’s annual meeting of Andil, the Italian Brick and Tile Association, was held on 6 July in Rome. The situation for the Italian brick and tile industry remains challenging.

Key topic at this year’s meeting was “Building in regions at risk of earthquakes”. CRESME (Italian Building Institute) gave an interesting report on this. Other reports on this subject were presented by CZA Cino Zucchi Architetti and representatives of the University of Perugia. Cino Zucchi defined bricks as “the architect’s daily bread” and realized: “A brick is like a blue suit - it fits always!” The papers were followed by a round table discussion.
