Noise control

Finally, after 25 years of revision, the latest edition (July 2016) of DIN 4109 – Sound Insulation in Buildings – Standards Series, is now fully in line with the state of the art in terms of structural soundproofing requirements and verification procedures. The main changes in the concept of standards series DIN 4109 are its new part 2 (Verification of Compliance with the Requirements by Calculation) and a very comprehensive component catalogue replete with the acoustic data of building components and assemblies.

The report tells how the requirements level for heavy clay products was successfully updated to a technically and economically feasible niveau. Now, whenever technical progress allows, moderate adaptations can be implemented. Explained is how the interests of other important disciplines in housing construction, e.g., thermal insulation and statics, can be conciliated with structural soundproofing.
