Announcement: IZF seminar for “career changers”

A lack of young people in crafts and technical professions is the issue of the day. The profession of industrial ceramist has almost disappeared. Brick factories can still find employees to fill their technical jobs. However, these largely come from other industries. The brick manufacturing process, with all that goes with it, is often foreign to them.

The Institut für Ziegelforschung Essen e. V. therefore offers, in addition to the well-known IZF seminar, a “Seminar for career changers”. In this 2-day information event, topics from the entire manufacturing process will be covered. The participants will be guided from the pit to the finished product, i.e. there will be lectures in a comprehensible form on raw material exploration, raw material analysis, raw material storage and mixing, aggregates and preparation and shaping as well as on the drying and firing process.

The IZF seminar will provide a large “bouquet” of topics to show new employees the diversity of tasks and solutions in the brickworks.

The seminar will take place over two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, 13 and 14 June 2023.

In order to be able to answer questions effectively and hold discussions as well as show one or two practical jobs, the number of participants is limited to 30. If there is more interest, we will offer a second date.

We kindly ask you to make a note of this date for you or your participating staff. You will shortly receive the detailed programme with all the documents required for implementation and registration. Of course, you can also register for the seminar now - by e-mail to or by fax to 0201 59 213 20.

Further dates are scheduled for 20 and 21 June.
