After a prolonged illness,
though unexpectedly, Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Harald Berger died on Sunday, the 10th of July, in Uhldingen, Germany.

As a youth, Harald Berger first completed a machinist‘s apprenticeship and then studied mechanical engineering. Graduating from Constance University of Applied Sciences in 1981, he initially held several positions outside of the brick and tile industry, where he gathered experience in mould-making and machine engineering, both of which proved very helpful for his later work in the brick and tile industry.

He joined the Friedrichshafen-based brick-die manufacturing company Braun GmbH in 1989, where his first assignment was to introduce a CAD system. Having successfully completed that project, he then turned his attention to technical ceramics and provided technical support to heavy clay plant & equipment contractors all around Germany.

Before long, it became apparent that customers were very receptive to Harald Berger‘s new ideas. This led to numerous innovative alterations. On his watch, the company‘s fast die mounting and fixing systems were further developed and their die cleaning machines optimized,. At the same time, Braun‘s business sphere was expanded to include Eastern Europe and Russia, so Harald Berger had a broad range of customer contact. With technical ceramics as his principal area of responsibility, he plied the field intensively right up to the end.

With Harald Berger, Braun has lost a deeply committed, outstanding colleague. He will be sorely missed not only by the Braun Company, but also by all the many business associates who knew and appreciated him as a very competent advisor.
