New production capacities for CNC and servo technology

Fanuc is investing one billion Euros

Fanuc, one of the world’s leading producers of factory automation equipment for CNC control systems, robotics and production machinery, is pressing forward with its expansion plans and investing in Japan as a production location. Fanuc has entered into a purchase agreement for a total of 695 000 m² of land, 377 000 m² of which is to be utilized for the first phase of the project.

The installation of capacities for CNC, servo motors and servo amplifiers is to commence before year’s end, and the new 254 000 m2 production building is supposed to be ready for occupation by next April. Production at the new facility is slated to begin in October 2016. Thanks to state-of-the-art production equipment and extensive automation, the plant will be able to turn out 10 000 units a month. At present, Fanuc has total capacity for up to 25,000 CNCs monthly. Monthly production capacity for servo motors will increase by 60 000 units (momentarily: 125 000 units/month) and for servo amplifiers by 35 000 units (to date: 84 000 units/month). Since Fanuc installs its own servo motors in its robots, the company’s recent increase in robot production capacity to 5 000 units a month has increased the company’s own servo-motor requirement to 350 000 units a year.

All in all, Fanuc’s Mibu-hanyuda Industrial Park investment will cost around 1 € billion. At the same time, the overall development capacity at the main domicile in Oshino-mura is also being expanded. For that, Fanuc is investing another € 225 million.
