Innovations for architects and design-savvy building owners

For architects and design-savvy building owners, Wienerberger has come up with some innovative products. Working together with the design studio F. A. Porsche, the company has developed a new roofing tile that has now won prizes in the scope of the German Design Award, Red Dot Award and the Iconic Award.

Timeless design

It was important to create a design that doesn’t just impress today, but in 50 years’ time, too, that’s the maxim at Wienerberger. Moreover, the tile’s quality and durability also had to be convincing.

The V shape of the roofing tile combines several functions: on the one hand, it directly integrates a drainage function in the tile, on the other hand, the faceting conjures a particular play of light. “With this, we achieve a new way to see the roofing tile,” as Christian Schwamkrug, Design Director at F. A. Porsche, emphasizes. The significant V shape of the Koramic V11 gives the tile its name, while the “11” in the product name stands for the number of roofing tiles needed to cover one square metre of roof surface.

The Koramic V11 is available in the colours titanium, anthracite-black and basalt.

Colours of Nature

In its facing bricks portfolio, Wienerberger has added nine more colour compositions to the Terca “Colours of Nature” waterstruck collection. The clay building materials manufacturer wants to offer architects and building owners a wider variety of products for high-quality facade design. Inspired by the colour harmonies of nature, the colour spectrum ranges from cream and pastels through grey and ochre shades to a rich red or anthracite as well as brown. The names of the products, such as Aluna, Nakoa, Arona, Lono, Ivani, Tian, Moana, Nohea or Kimo, stress the beauty of nature and are taken from international words also in the context of nature, says the company. The portfolio comprises a total of 31 colour combinations.

Wienerberger has set the scene for the different colour categories in a catalogue for architects and designers, which has been compiled as a source of inspiration for design-oriented architecture.
