Great support, huge participation - Launch of AfricaBuild in Lagos

The launch of Nigeria’s international trade show AfricaBuild Lagos is getting closer. 91exhibitors from 16 countries will display all of the latest in construction machinery and technology, building equipment and tools, building materials and interior finishing materials. Sold-out already at its premiere AfricaBuild Lagos takes place on 16 to 18 February 2016 at the Landmark Centre in Lagos, Victoria Island Annex, enjoying full institutional support. The event is held against the backdrop of huge investments into mega-projects and a strong demand for affordable housing in Nigeria. The entry for professionals is free, pre-registration is recommended at the event’s website.
Nigeria’s booming economy and its ever growing construction market are major attractions for international suppliers. ‘The 2016 launch of AfricaBuild Lagos is intended to stimulate international investment into Nigerian construction and capitalize on the lack of international players in this unsaturated, growing market’ outlines Darryl Pawsey, Regional Industry Director, ITE Build & Interiors Division.
‘It is incredibly exciting that for a launch event we have secured such a high number and diverse selection of international brands which indicates a positive outlook for the future of the show. 91 exhibitors from 16 countries will display all of the latest in construction machinery and technology, building equipment and tools, building materials and interior finishing materials. The exhibitors come from Austria, China, France, Germany, Ghana, Italy, Lebanon, Nigeria, Poland, Spain, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom and United Arab Emirates.’
There is a multitude of reasons behind this vibrant and exciting growth. Nigeria, its GDP hit $569 billion in 2014, is Africa’s largest economy and it is particularly robust. The West African state enjoys healthy growth to the tune of 5 to 6 % annually, and this looks set to continue in the near future.
Nigeria’s construction industry is amongst the world’s most enticing. It is the country’s second largest employer and over the last half decade has enjoyed growth rate of 9.5 %. With significant investment into mega-projects, the construction industry continues to boom. At the same time demand for new affordable housing in Nigeria is huge.
At 180 million Nigeria is the continent’s most populous nation. According to the World Bank Nigeria is facing a 17 million unit housing deficit that will require investment of almost $85 billion to resolve, representing a huge opportunity for the construction sector and allied fields, such as building materials. All these mark excellent pre-conditions for Nigeria’s largest and most important international building and interiors exhibition AfricaBuild Lagos 2016. Organised by the German trade show specialists fairtrade and the UK based experts in building and interiors shows ITE this important event is all set to be launched on 16 to 18 February 2016 at the Landmark Centre in Lagos, Victoria Island Annex as a sold-out event.

Outlines Ms Olubunmi Adekoje, Director General of FOCI-Federation of Construction Industry Nigeria: ‘FOCI is delighted to support AfricaBuild Lagos as Institutional Partner.  And Martin Maerz, fairtrade’s Managing Director complements: ‘We are glad to welcome Mercedes-Benz as the Platinum Sponsor of AfricaBuild Lagos 2016 and the Federal Nigerian Ministry of Power, Works and Housing as its major institutional partner.
