Information, Shadow and a Breeze
Dear readers,
During the hottest time of the year, there are three things you won’t want to do without: an interesting, sophisticated read, a cooling breeze, and shade. You’ll find all three in and with this issue.
For the sophisticated read, why not turn to page 6 of this issue, for example? There you’ll find the third part of the technical article “Natural Gas and Hydrogen—What’s New?”—results from the lab and the field, based on a research project by Dipl.-Ing. Regina Vogt, Dr. Matthias Händel, and M.Sc. Heidi Reichardt, with a discussion of exhaust gases and emissions.
The interesting reading continues on page 18 with the second technical article. EurGeol Dr. rer. nat. Lutz Krakow presents another example of “Modern Raw Materials for the Brick Industry”: filter kaolin from the Freinberg quartz quarry in Upper Austria.
You can find company news starting on page 23. Wienerberger is on another shopping spree, this time in Serbia. The Greek plant manufacturer SABO seems to be on a roll right now and reports on its current projects and plans. Refratechnik presents new sustainable and energy-efficient solutions for tunnel kiln walls, ceilings, and troughs.
Perhaps the two product features starting on page 30 will pique your curiosity. Leipfinger-Bader has received building code approval for its cold-pressed brick, and a Dutch startup is using bricks to reintroduce oysters to the seabed and rebuild oyster reefs.
If you’re more interested in event recaps, this issue won’t disappoint you either. Starting on page 35, we report on the general meeting of the Federal Association of the German Brick Industry in Kassel. On pages 45 and following, you can find out what took place at the 29th Conference of Brick Museum Associations at the Brick Museum in Lage.
Finally, to find some shade during a break from reading, just pick up the magazine and hold it exactly between the spot you want to shade and the sun.
