Freymatic AG faces the market

High-performance cutter for large clay blocks

Tension cracks in large clay blocks can be prevented with optimized gentle forming. Multiple-column extrusion is predestined for obtaining high output while ensuring sufficient forming time. Freymatic AG, a Swiss-based brick machine manufacturer, was very quick to respond to this challenge and began with the development of a suitable cutter.

The design specifications were soon drawn up:

› Cutting of large blocks extruded in multiple columns
› Waste cutting in case of unequal column advance (calibrating cut)
› Format change in less than 15 minutes
All further quality requirements are standard for Freymatic: reliability, ruggedness, long-life cycle and accuracy. For the engineers it was an interesting challenge, in which they were able to build on decades of experience at Freymatic AG. And so a prototype was soon produced, which was tested with the help of a brickworks. Based on the results and findings of the tests, the machine was then built.

After one more year of development, the “Omnicut” cutter passed all the hardness tests and now meets all the specifications:

› It cuts the column gently into perfectly formed blocks free from tension cracks
› The format can be safely changed in less than 15 minutes
› With the cutting tables available from Freymatic the spectrum of products is unlimited
