Digital printing – opportunities and challenges in heavy clay ceramics

This talk addresses the opportunities and challenges with regard to commissioning a digital printing system in the heavy clay ceramics industry.

In addition to essential introductory information on this technology, in the main section the commissioning of a production plant for digital printing of facing bricks is presented. The configuration of the system and the technical challenges are examined as well as the composition of digital printing inks and the necessary additives. The goal of the talk is to enable all interested to weigh up whether a digital printing system could be an interesting option in their own company operations.
