Single-source shaping - extruders and dies as integral systems

Händle, a global leader in the manufacture of machines and equipment for the preparation and shaping of ceramic raw materials, has acquired, effective January 1, 2014, Friedrichshafen-based die maker Ziegelmundstückbau Braun GmbH, which is now continuing business under the name ZMB Braun GmbH. We spoke to Gerhard Fischer and Claus Homburger about the plans and challenges attendant to this takeover.

What were your objectives in acquiring ZMB Braun?
G.F.: Here at Händle, we believe in the sustainability of the brick and tile industry – particularly in Germany and the rest of Central Europe! So, when we saw an opportunity to unite two of the branch‘s technological leaders by acquiring Braun – Händle as a global market leader in the fields of preparation and shaping, and Braun, the die specialist – we did not hesitate. Now, together, we are evolving from a pair of machine and tool makers to a supplier of all-in systems.
