Erlus AG stands their ground in 2009

While Erlus AG reported an 11% decline in revenues for the first half of 2009, business picked up nicely during the latter half of the year. Consequently, the year‘s total sales dropped only 1.1% to € 91.8 million in 2009, and that resulted mainly from discontinuing the production and sale of wall-building materials at the Teistungen facility.

Compared to 2008, expenditures for raw materials, operating media and consumables plus bought-in wares declined by 8.1% to € 40 million. This was chiefly attributable to falling gas prices up through September.

The year-end payroll at Erlus AG counted 508 employees (previous year: 516), with an additional 15 persons in training (previous year: 19).

Normal business earnings for 2009 at Erlus AG totalled € 2.2 million, after € 1.3 million in 2008. Annual net profits came to € 1.3 million (previous year: € 0.8 million).

In the year under review, € 15.2 million was invested in tangible assets. That was € 6.4 million more than the year before. The main item of investment was the construction of a roof tile plant in Teistungen, which was finished in September 2009. In all, € 19.4 million was invested in the new plant. Further expansion is already on the drawing board.
