Hans-Joachim Giesselink †

Hans-Joachim Giesselink, Burton Sales Manager of long standing, died on November 8, 2016.

Born in 1942, he became a pillar of the branch and known the world over. After graduating from engineering college in Essen with a degree in ceramics and glassmaking, he went to work for Burton GmbH + Co. KG, where he stayed on for 44 years with great motivation and commitment. With his Burton Group system solutions, Hans-Joachim Giesselink provided essential momentum all across the brick and tile industry, in the course of which he also built up a global array of business relations. After retiring as of May 31, 2010, he maintained a quick interest in branch developments, of late as an engineering consultant. As recently as 2015, at an age of 70-plus, he could still be seen ambling around ceramitec in Munich – as agily and nimbly as ever.

With Hans-Joachim Giesselink, the entire brick and tile industry has lost not only a cordial colleague, but also a piece of refractory history – and we will all miss him.
