62nd Clemson Brick Forum 2016 - New concepts for production and application

As usual, the North American clay brick and roofing tile manufacturers met with their suppliers, including international companies, at the Anderson (SC) Sports and Entertainment Center at the beginning of October. Against the background of a slow but positive development of the housing construction market, the around 380 attendees not only learned the latest news from the brick plants, but discussed possibilities for the use of brick slips. The constant concerns of environmental protection as well as health and safety in the workplace were discussed in detail in a separate session.

Seminars for industry newcomers

As at the last Forum too, Monday began with two training seminars for new employees and people coming into the clay brick and tile industry from other fields. Under the headline “From raw material to plant mix”, Jim Frederic, Harold Newman, Dave Froberg and Leon Williams explained the entire spectrum of raw materials analysis, ceramic body development and the optimization of existing formulations. The participants were given the opportunity to ask questions and discuss specific problems.
