Juwö‘s energy management certified by TÜV SÜD

Juwö Poroton-Werke Ernst Jungk & Sohn GmbH are practicing ideally structured, fully documented energy management, as confirmed by TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH after closely examining the production processes of this successful 150-year-old heavy clay producer. At a little ceremony to celebrate the occasion, TÜV SÜD representatives presented the company a document demonstrating successful certification in accordance with DIN ISO 50001. Michael Zimmer, who heads TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH in the Mannheim/Frankfurt region, noted approvingly, that Juwö‘s efficiency has improved by 30% thanks to the installation of a new air-to-air heat exchanger that is saving the company 96 000 €/year and making a valuable contribution to climate protection. A new grinding plant at plant 3 reduced energy consumption there by 150 000 kWh/year, i.e., by about the amount of electricity consumed by 50 average households.

CEO Stefan Jungk thanked all the company‘s contributing employees, in particular the certification team, for seeing to it that the TÜV inspection went so well. Having a certified energy management system, he said, can help document the company‘s thrifty way of dealing with energy, so that Juwö can continue being at least partially exempted from the levies imposed by Germany‘s Renewable Energy Act (EEG) – and that is of vital importance for the whole company. Jungk also announced that a new production facility planned for the coming year will mean considerable further progress in energy conservation at the Wöllstein-based heavy clay plant.
