Lots going on in late autumn

Würzburg’s calling and everyone’s following the call! And so that all those interested can actually attend the Würzburg Brick and Tile Training Course, one key change has been made: the course is leaving its venue at the LGA and moving to the Kolping-Akademie, Kolpingplatz 1, in Würzburg. Here we shall all have more space. I shall be interested to see how you like the new venue.

And hopefully you will also like the programme compiled by the programme committee. Every year, it is a challenge to choose interesting talks and pick the right topics. With its different products and production technologies, the heavy clay industry covers a very wide field. But we are starting with one topic that everyone is talking about: digitalization and the question of how it will change how we work in future. Another increasingly important issue is the demand for qualified employees. How can companies recruit and keep them? The WesterWaldCampus at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences is further developing its bachelor course in Materials Engineering Glass and Ceramics to a dual course and will be presenting this in Würzburg. For brick plants, the course provides the opportunity to support future employees and integrate them into their companies from the start.

The student field trip organized by our journal offers suppliers and brick plants the chance each year to interest students still during their studies in the brick and tile industry and its plant suppliers. This year we shall be the guest of Jacobi Tonwerke GmbH in Bilshausen. We look forward together with our industry partners Grothe, Keller HCW, Lingl, Petersen Service/Rehart, Refratechnik and Stephan Schmidt to informing students from Höhr-Grenzhausen and Nuremberg about our branch.

And, last but not least, we are inviting nominations for the “Zi Best Service Supplier 2019”. Together with our partner, Messe München, we shall again give you the chance to vote for your favourites. We shall be collecting the first votes at the Würzburg Brick and Tile Training Course!

See you in Würzburg!

Yours
Anett Fischer
