Tecnargilla 2016 – more than 50% international visitors for the first time

Tecnargilla 2016, organized by Acimac and Rimini Fiera, hit a new record for the number of international visitors. According to the trade fair organizers, 16 764 international visitors came to Rimini from 26–30 September, which corresponds to 50.3 % of the total number of visitors (+ 6.3 % compared to 2014). For the first time, the number of international trade visitors exceeded the number of Italian visitors. From Italy, 16 631 trade visitors attended, that is 49.7 % of the total visitors (+ 1.7 % compared to 2014). Overall, 33 395 visitors from more than 100 countries attended the trade fair, a plus of 4 % compared to 2014.

Of the 500 exhibiting companies, 40 % came from 25 different countries. They presented their products and services in twelve trade fair halls on 80 000 m² exhibition space. In total, more than 1 500 meetings between exhibitors and international delegations were counted.

Paolo Gambuli, General Director of Acimac: “Of fundamental importance was also the support of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and the Italian Agency for Export Trade (ICE), through which international advertising could be stepped up so that high-profile buyers from emerging economies were invited to Rimini.”

A journey into the future of technological innovation

The event provided an insight into all technological achievements to make production processes even more flexible and efficient. Especially more economic and integrated solutions according to the Smart Factory model as well as flexibility and modularity of the equipment formed the technological trends. Here all phases of manufacturing from shaping to firing, through decoration and finishing, up to handling and storage are covered.

A key topic were also the full digital technologies, the application of which is even possible on structured surfaces. Other focuses were systems for energy saving in all manufacturing phases of the product, intelligent automation as well as digital and individual design.

The paradigms of Industry 4.0 also found their way to Tecnargilla. Innovative concepts such as predictive maintenance, remote service, traceability and logistics form part of the production cycle and are steering the ceramic production process in the direction of full digitization.

Tecnargilla Design Award and IED Lab

This year too, the best ideas and innovative projects for unconventional application of ceramics were presented with awards: the Tecnargilla Design Award presented by Acimac and Rimini Fiera went to the Mutant project from System with the topic of “Light and Shadow”. Winner of the IED Lab competition is Guglielmo Urso, student and tutor in the Master Design Strategy at the European Institute of Design in Milan. The IED Lab Best Innovation Design Project is a joint initiative of the European Institute of Design in Milan and Acimac.

The next Tecnargilla is scheduled to be held in Rimini in September 2018.
