Wienerberger AG with 7% higher revenues in the first half of 2014
In the first six months of 2014 Wienerberger AG recorded a year-on-year increase of 7% in revenues to € 1 349.4 mill. and 27% in operating EBITDA to € 135.1 mill. The after-tax loss for the first half-year amounted to € 1.7 mill. (2013: € -31.0 mill). Total investments amounted to € 52 mill. compared to € 43 mill. in the prior year.
The Clay Building Materials Europe Division recorded the strongest earnings improvement in the Group with an increase of 10% in revenues to € 719.6 mill. and 52% in operation EBITDA to € 97.1 mill. Turnover in North America Division totalled € 108.3 mill., which roughly matches the prior-year level. The operating EBITDA in this Division fell from € 4.4 mill. in the first half of 2013 to € 2.3 mill. for the reporting period.
Wienerberger expects a continuation of the market trends in Europe and the USA through the end of this year. Heimo Scheuch, CEO at Wienerberger AG, expects an operating Group EBITDA of approximately € 315 mill. and Wienerberger’s return to the profit zone in 2014.
