Wienerberger completes takeover of Creaton GmbH

Wienerberger has successfully completed the takeover of Creaton GmbH (Wertingen/Bavaria), which has been successful on the market for more than 130 years, according to a press release from March 2024. The eight German Creaton production sites in Bavaria, Thuringia, Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia will be integrated into the company. The Creaton brand will be retained. In future, almost 2,000 employees will work under one roof.

The acquisition was initiated in December 2022 and was subject to approval by the competition authorities. The acquisition, which has now been approved, strengthens the company's future viability and competitiveness in the important market for sustainable products and solutions for energy-efficient new builds, in the renovation market and in water and energy management. Wienerberger expects the acquisition to further consolidate its pioneering role in innovation and decarbonisation in the field of pitched roof solutions. The merger and the use of internally developed technologies should also enable environmental and climate targets to be achieved faster and more economically.

The former CEO of the Creaton Group, Sebastian Dresse, takes over the management of Wienerberger Germany and reports to Jürgen Habenbacher, COO Region Germany & Poland of the Wienerberger Group, who has an extended area of responsibility after the successful years in Germany.

Jürgen Habenbacher, Chief Operating Officer Region Germany & Poland: "Bringing together two such strong companies and brands under one roof is a strong signal and a great responsibility. Our joint expertise and innovative strength will enable us to develop pioneering solutions for new builds and renovations and further strengthen our position. In this way, we are paving the way for a sustainable future that benefits all generations."

Sebastian Dresse, previously Managing Director of Creaton GmbH and in future Managing Director of Wienerberger Germany: "I am delighted to take on responsibility for Wienerberger's activities as Managing Director. Together, we can achieve so much more with our strong brands, our regional customer proximity and our unique product and service portfolio together with our committed employees."

Former Creaton parent company Terreal taken over by Wienerberger AG

The acquisition was made possible by the purchase of the former French Creaton parent company Terreal with its activities in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the USA.

Heimo Scheuch, CEO of Wienerberger AG: "The refurbishment and renovation of the European building stock is an essential step on the way to climate neutrality and an important contribution to the sustainable creation of affordable living space. With the acquisition of Terreal and its development into a European pitched roof expert, integrating solar, rainwater and other solutions including accessories and insulation for the roof, Wienerberger is now creating a strong platform for further growth".
