Use of synthetic gas for firing heavy clay products

Normally, natural gas serves as the source of energy for firing bricks and tiles. Since, how­ever, that energy option is once again becoming more expensive following an intermediate phase of lower prices, it is necessary to seek potential alternative fuels. A few years ago, some experiments based on biogas were launched, but they eventually failed for lack of available biomass volumes and of adequate economy of production. Consequently, the possible use of synthetic gas (syngas) as an alternative fuel is being investigated.
