Brick firing in an electrically heated kiln
ONEJOON GmbH, which specializes in the development and construction of kiln systems, demonstrates that there is also room for further development in the firing of bricks.
Brick firing in an electrically heated kiln is possible and, in our opinion, the better process, as the focus here is on the thermal treatment of the bricks and not on the limits of combustion dictating the cycle.
The ‘electric kiln’ does not require the immense amounts of air that exceed production capacity many times over, thus offering opportunities for cost savings. Contrary to the opinion of many sceptics, the required heat transfer can also be achieved through structural optimisation of the plant in order to maintain the usual production rates.
The following presentation will discuss the finer points of design and validation options from a process engineering perspective in order to exploit the potential for further development.
At ONEJOON, we are convinced that the electrification of brick firing is only just beginning.
